Sony San Diego released a MLB The Show 22 gameplay trailer today, giving fans a first look at the newest game in the franchise.

While there wasn’t anything revolutionary in the trailer, it’s always nice for fans to be able to start getting information on what the next installment will offer. We saw plenty of Shohei Ohtani, this year’s cover athlete, along with the customary swings, throws, pitches, and more that accompany a teaser trailer.

If you’re like me and pour a ton of time into the Diamond Dynasty mode, it’s worth noting that there were two legend reveals in the trailer. First, Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies was revealed as a legend in MLB The Show 22, followed by legendary starting pitcher Randy Johnson. Hitters (and birds) will need to be on high alert starting April 5.

When MLB The Show 22 was announced, it was confirmed that the game will once again be on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Additionally, MLB The Show will release on Nintendo Switch for the first time ever with this year’s iteration. MLB The Show 22 will be fully cross-platform across PlayStation, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch.

MLB The Show 22 arrives on April 5 of this year. As always, you can purchase various editions of the game that give you different bonuses. If you purchase the Digital Deluxe or MVP editions of MLB The Show 22, you’ll also be able to play the game four days early starting on April 1.

You can pre-order MLB The Show 22 on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
